Commercial Proposals Engineer

Reporting to our Global Head of Tendering, the Commercial Proposals Engineer will take the lead on creating compliant and competitive bids from initial review through to submission and handover. You will interpret technical specifications, coordinate inputs from subject matter experts, and manage clarifications with clients so that every proposal reflects our standards and commercial position. You will maintain accurate records in the CRM and ERP, support project teams after contract award when needed, and stay up to date with industry standards and competitor activity.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret tender documentation and technical specifications to define scope and requirements.
  • Produce commercial, contractual and purchase order qualifications.
  • Prepare clear technical clarifications for RFQs and tender submissions.
  • Support quotation submissions and ensure alignment with company expectations and standards.
  • Conduct technical review and clarification meetings with clients, engaging internal technical experts where required.
  • Liaise with engineering, projects, production and other internal teams to obtain the right technical inputs.
  • Identify commercial and technical risks and opportunities for each bid and record these appropriately.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry standards, products and competitor offerings.
  • Assist with vendor registration and pre-qualification questionnaires.
  • Provide project support following contract award when requested.

  • Previous experience in a similar role within a commercial based environment.
  • A technical qualification is preferred. Electronics would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • Proven ability to interpret and work with technical documentation.
  • Experience preparing commercial and contractual qualifications.
  • Great interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, and present across all levels of stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • High level of customer service skills and networking ability with an effective approach to collaboration at all levels of an organisation.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high standard of accuracy.
  • Organised, with the ability to prioritise workload during periods of high volume, as well as manage conflicting and changing priorities.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of CRM and ERP systems, and a good level of IT proficiency is essential.
  • Positive attitude and flexibility in work approach.
  • A collaborative team player who can also work independently when required.
